Direct Service Grants

Direct Service Grants provide financial assistance to students with respiratory ailments and are intending to help complete their education and become self-sustaining, independent members of the community. Grants are available to any student with a pulmonary problem who lives or goes to school in the greater New York City area (within a 50 mile radius), is at least 16 years old, can demonstrate financial need and otherwise meet Stony Wold's qualifications. Individual grants, averaging $250 per month, are awarded for a maximum of four years to approximately 25 to 30 students enrolled in either academic or technical training programs. The Fund dispenses approximately $95,000 per year.
Historically, Stony Wold has assisted students in the initial phase of their education, whether in trade or technical school, high school or college. Our primary aim is to encourage independence by helping them have the academic foundation on which to build a productive life. In addition to offering financial aid, Stony Wold provides counseling and support services to all grant recipients. The Executive Director monitors each student's scholastic and personal progress through monthly phone calls and periodic meetings and suggests additional therapies when warranted. Requests for Direct Service assistance are received throughout the year, and one-year grants are awarded at any time upon the approval of the Board of Directors.

Applying for Aid is Easy
